Dear NEW PATHS Members,
I hope this letter finds you well and thriving in both your personal and professional lives. I am looking forward to the arrival of spring. Spring is the time of plans and projects, and we certainly have lots of planning to do. My state’s legislature passed a law years ago that requires the Medicaid agency to submit waivers to establish work requirements for certain groups. During the previous administration we were told the waiver wouldn’t be approved, but we have dusted off those documents and anticipate the waiver request will be granted, as it was in 2018. In 2022, the Kaiser Family Foundation published a paper with information about Medicaid Work Requirements into a paper you can read HERE.
I am pleased to remind you of the upcoming virtual training session, "The Resilient Professional: Building Balance and Beating Burnout," scheduled for March 12, 2025. This training promises to be an invaluable resource for all of us, providing essential tools and strategies to maintain our well-being and resilience in these challenging times. You can register for this virtual session (cost-free to NEW PATHS members) HERE.
I enjoyed the fantastic California State Conference held from January 22-24 in Modesto CA. It was a truly enriching experience, filled with insightful discussions, inspiring presentations, and the opportunity to connect with many of you. What made it even better was traveling with my friend Doreen Michals, National NEW PATHS Vice President. The knowledge and camaraderie shared during those days have left a lasting impression on me. Thank you for your hospitality.
Looking ahead, a reminder that we will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the NEW PATHS National Training Conference in Virginia Beach, Virginia, from September 7-10, 2025. This milestone event promises to be a momentous occasion, filled with exceptional learning opportunities, networking, and celebration. I encourage you all to mark your calendars and join us in commemorating this significant achievement. Register online HERE.
As we navigate through this year, we will undoubtedly encounter numerous changes, coming at us fast and furiously. While we might not be able to control the changes, we can control how we respond to them. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Change is the only constant in life. One's ability to adapt to those changes will determine your success in life."
Let us embrace the changes and challenges ahead with resilience, optimism, and a commitment to supporting one another. Together, we will continue to thrive and grow as professionals and as a community.
Warm regards,
Marshall Wilmot
